Carol Lee Espy

Before Carol Lee Espy stepped behind the WQED cameras to host OnQ, she was defined as a singer-songwriter. Now TV Host is added to the list.

Her second CD, "Stars in the Back Yard" has garnered national and international attention. The review in Performing Songwriter (an industry bible) says it all.

"Just when you think you can't possibly be moved by another love song, along comes someone like Carol Lee Espy with a tune like "Come Home". The deep yet simple ache of missing someone is captured with such hushed intimacy you almost feel like you're eavesdropping....Warm and wise, articulate and inspired, Carol Lee Espy is all that...and then some"

Performing Songwriter '99

Well la-dee-da, but don't be lulled into the belief that she's all boo-hoo and love songs. Her lively performances are laughter-filled and have the uncanny knack of merging the dream world with reality. It's all a perfect plot to entertain you.

Carol Lee is in the process of CD #3 as soon as she can clear the plate of Nashville projects and her collaborations with husband Jim DiSpirito. Hang in there, make lots of coffee, it'll get done.

Stars in the Back Yard

Lyrical Americana, stripped down no frills songwriting. If this music were food, it'd be lots of comfort with mashed potatoes and gravy (without the guilt).

Circle of Love
written by Jim DiSpirito and Carol Lee Espy

In the response to the events on September eleventh, Carol and Jim chose to witness to the good in folks, focusing mainly on the heroic acts of New Yorks' Bravest Firefighters. Proceeds benefit the Leary Firefighters Fund for New York's Bravest. This fund is a direct help to the firefighters, no red tape.

Guest artists showed up, no questions asked (except maybe, is there food involved?)

BE Taylor - vocals
Randy Venturini - bass (Crisis Car)
Pete Freeman - pedal steel
Jim DiSpirito - drums, harmonica, guitar (Rusted Root, Cloud Chamber)
Curtis Erickson - backing vox
Dave Brown - elec. gutitar, mix (Gathering Field)
Carol Lee Espy - backing vox

Nationally syndicated cartoonist Rob Rogers donated his artwork to the cd sleeve...what a guy!

If you're familiar with Carol Lee as a songwriter you'll like this song, and teaming up with her husband , Jim , to co-write takes the song even further although don't expect a drum jam, this is the rural Jim revealed! Asked to describe the style, we have to say Americana Allegheny, how's that? This song has had quite a successful response and it makes it all the sweeter to help those who never hesitate to help us.

The holidays rapidly approach, gifts can mean more than you know, let music open our hearts and help our friends heal from Ground Zero.
